Southwold is the name of a place located on the east coast of England that's featured in W.G. Sebald's beguiling and melancholic masterpiece 'The Rings of Saturn' to which this track owes it's primary inspiration. Or at least the early stages of it's creation were influenced by the feeling this book was stirring in me at the time.
The spoken word collage was a last minute addition before mastering. I felt the track lacked a hook to hang your mind on so Alan W Watts was recruited, via séance, for vocal duties.
The mix of the vocals was deliberately left obscuring as the effect seems to focus the ear and mind in a desirable way.
